Challenge: How to control tire inventory among NASCAR race teams?

Solution:

A new tire-leasing program from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was put into place for the NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck series to eliminate well funded race teams from purchasing additional tires for testing and, in turn, gaining a competitive edge on race day. To stay one step ahead, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company also turned to Advanced ID and embedded their RFID TIRE Tag in the leased tires' sidewalls to help manage the leased inventory.

Each Advanced ID RFID Tire Tag provides NASCAR the ability to:
  • Identify each tire with a unique serial number
  • Store incremental data like tire size, total miles, wheel position, etc
  • Select and retrieve data for input to the NASCAR database
The experience demonstrates the Advanced ID RFID Tire Tag's potential for optimizing tire logistics by providing the manufacturer, OEM, retreader or fleet maintenance provider with right tire at the right place and the right time.
