Advanced ID Corporation Privacy Statement (Last Updated: January 2005) Advanced ID Corporation (Advanced ID) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Statement applies to data collection and usage on Advanced IDs website and services. Please read the Privacy Statement below and also any supplementary information at the end of this statement for additional details about our website and services that you may use. Advanced ID is a general audience web site, intended for users of all ages. Personal information of all users is collected, used and disclosed as described in this Privacy Statement. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard the personal information you provide to us. By providing personal information to us, you signify your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. Advanced ID respects your personal privacy. We appreciate your concern about your personal information. We strive to protect any personal information you give to us including your name, address, phone numbers and email address. The personal information collected by us shall be limited to those details necessary for the purposes of identifying you. We will maintain and protect your personal information. It is your choice to provide us with your personal information; however, your decision to withhold particular information may result in limiting our ability to provide you with proper recovery of your pet. Collection of your Personal Information Within the web site, Advanced ID may collect personal information, such as your e-mail address, name, work address or telephone number. Advanced ID may collect information about your visit, including the pages you view, the links you click and other actions taken within Advanced ID. We may also collect certain standard information that your browser sends to every website you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and language, access times and referring Web site addresses. Registration information (sent to us either by mail, fax or electronically) provided by pet owners is for the sole purpose of proving ownership and returning a lost or stolen pet to the registered owner. When we receive a pet registration, all the details provided are entered into our PETtrac database. The PETtrac database is housed at our head office in Calgary, Alberta. All details are completely optional, but for your pets safe return and to verify ownership, the more detailed the information, the more efficient a recovery can be done. We provide only specific details (name and phone numbers) when a caller phones in to report a found pet (shelters/SPCAs and animal control officers usually require the owners address). If the caller is unable to reach the owner, alternate contacts can be provided if there are any on the file. Veterinarian and medical information is released if the pet requires medical attention. Changes to a pet/owners file must be provided by the owner, who must verify their identity. Changes can only be performed by office staff during regular business hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. Use of your Personal Information It is our policy that all PETtrac registration information is to be used for the sole purpose of returning lost and stolen pets to their registered owners and will be given out on a need to know basis only. The PETtrac database is not sold or given to any other business for the purpose of solicitation. Any veterinary clinic, animal shelter, rescue group, animal control officer or city bylaw office that has access to the PETtrac database has been approved to do so with the understanding that the information they have access to is to be kept confidential and is to be used for the sole purpose of returning a pet to its rightful owner. The PETtrac Recovery Form used on this website is password protected and is used by authorized personnel only (veterinarians, shelters, SPCAs and our after-hours answering service) and cannot be accessed by anyone else. Advanced ID collects and uses your personal information to operate the web site and deliver the services you have requested. These services may include the display of customized content and advertising based upon the information Advanced ID has collected. Advanced ID may also use your personal information to inform you of other products or services available from Advanced ID and its affiliates. Advanced ID may also send you surveys regarding current services or potential new services that may be offered. Advanced ID does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. Advanced ID does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations. We may occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as handling the processing and delivery of mailings, providing customer support, processing transactions, or performing statistical analysis of our services. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service. They will be required to maintain the confidentiality of your information and will be prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. Advanced ID may access and/or disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on Advanced ID or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of Advanced ID; or (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of Advanced ID services or members of the public. Personal information collected on this site may be stored and processed in Canada and the United States, or any other country in which Advanced ID or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using this site, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country. Security of your Personal Information Advanced ID is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities. If and when we transmit highly confidential information (such as a credit card number) over the Internet, we would protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Use of Cookies Advanced ID uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. For example, if you personalize Advanced ID's pages, or register with Advanced ID sites or services, a cookie helps Advanced ID to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, preferred email address, and so on. When you return to Advanced ID, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the Advanced ID features that you customized. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the Advanced ID services or Web site you visit. Use of Web Beacons Advanced IDs Web page may contain electronic images known as Web beacons - sometimes called single-pixel gifs - that allow Advanced ID to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver services. Advanced ID may include Web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or Advanced ID Newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon. Advanced ID may also place Web beacons from third parties on our site in order to compile aggregated statistics and to help determine the effectiveness of our joint promotional or advertising campaigns. Advanced ID prohibits Web beacons on our site from being used by third parties to access your personal information. Use of Third Party Ad Networks In addition, Advanced ID may allow other companies, called third-party ad servers or ad networks, to display advertisements on our Web pages. Some of these ad networks may place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing this allows the ad network to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad networks may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. Advanced ID does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third-party ad servers or ad networks. Enforcement of this Privacy Statement If you have questions regarding this statement, you should contact Advanced ID as noted below. Changes to this Statement Advanced ID will occasionally update this Privacy Statement to reflect company and customer feedback. When Advanced ID posts changes to this Statement, you will see the word "updated" next to the Privacy Statement link on the front page of Advanced ID. If there are material changes to this Statement or in how Advanced ID will use your personal information, Advanced ID will prominently post such changes prior to implementing the change. Advanced ID encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how Advanced ID is protecting your information. Contact Information Advanced ID welcomes your comments regarding this Privacy Statement. If you believe that we have not adhered to this Statement, please contact us by telephone, e-mail, or postal mail.
