It is the policy of AVID Canada that no ownership will be changed on any pet without the prior written consent of the previous owner. As well, no ownership changes will be done over the telephone for security reasons.

The new owner is required to provide AVID Canada with a transfer of ownership letter from the previous owner confirming that the pet was sold or given to the new owner. The new owner is also to provide AVID Canada with their name/address/telephone numbers and the microchip number. If there are any changes to the pet’s information, such as new veterinarian, alternate contact, etc., this can also be indicated on the letter from the new owner. The fee for the transfer of ownership is to be paid by the new owner and is currently $26.50 GST included: NB, NS, NL HST will be added. This fee is for the ownership period and/or lifetime of the pet and is subject to change without notice. If the new owner requires a collar tag, we provide new brass collar tags for a nominal fee of $10.00 - including GST and shipping (HST will be added for NB, NS and NL).

If a pet has been adopted from a recognized shelter/SPCA/humane society or rescue organization, AVID Canada requires that the new adoptive owner provide us with a copy of the signed adoption papers or agreement from the organization showing that the pet has been adopted by the new owner. No adoptions will be done over the phone for security reasons. The documents should also show the microchip number/owner name/address/telephone numbers. There is no fee for adoptions.
